Idaho State Police reported a fatal car accident on southbound State Highway 55 north of Banks in Boise County. Police reported the driver of a passenger vehicle attempted to pass when they were hit head-on by an oncoming semi-truck. The driver of the vehicle died at the scene of the accident. The semi truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital by personal vehicle for evaluation of injuries. State Highway 55 was blocked for about two and a half hours while crews worked to clear the accident. An accident such as this is all too common on Idaho rural roads.
