Fatal Head-on Semi-Truck Accident on State Highway 16

Idaho State Police reported a fatal head-on semi-truck accident on State Highway 16. The driver of a Nissan Altima was driving northbound when he crossed the center line and struck a semi-truck head-on that was driving southbound. Police say the driver of the Altima succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the semi-truck accident. The driver of the Altima was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The driver of the semi-truck was not. Traffic was blocked in both directions for about three and a half hours as officials worked to clear the accident.

In 1998 6,684 people were killed in a head-on car accident according to a report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. These number dropped to 3,914 in 2008.
