Fatal Semi-Truck Accident After Fiery Crash

A fatal semi-truck accident after a fiery crash killed the driver. A witness who was driving ahead of the semi-truck said the 18-wheeler suddenly jetted across the freeway and then suddenly was in flames. All northbound lanes of traffic were closed for several hours as crews worked to put the fire out and clear the accident. The exact cause of the crash is unknown.

The National Fire Protection Association Council recommends taking the following steps if you’re vehicle catches fire while you are driving.

1. Immediately move to the closest place to safely stop such as the side lane or a median.
2. Stop the car and turn off the ignition.
3. Get everyone out immediately. Don’t allow anyone to return to the burning vehicle for personal items.
4. Move at least 100 feet away from the burning vehicle to avoid the flames and toxic fumes.
5. Call 911.
6. If possible, alert oncoming traffic.
