Multi-Car Accident Closes Highway 395

Washington State Police reported a multi-car accident which closed Highway 395. A Subaru driving northbound drifted into the left turning lane hitting a Corolla. The Corolla was pushed forward from impact and struck a Subaru Legacy. The Corolla then entered into the southbound lane of traffic where it was struck by a pickup truck and then hit another vehicle which was waiting to turn left. Of all five vehicles involved in this car crash, only three were reportedly injured. Those injured were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation of injuries.

Multi-Car Accident

About 15 percent of all fatal accidents in the U.S. involve multiple vehicle accidents. In addition, nearly 13,000 injuries are reported each year from these types of accidents. When a car accident involves multiple vehicles, they become much more dangerous. Injuries may be sustained from both primary and secondary points of impact. A primary impact happens when a negligent driver crashes into another vehicle. A secondary point of impact occurs when other drivers try to avoid the crash but often end up hitting one another. When there are multiple points of impact, chances are serious injuries or even death are more likely to occur.

Determining Liability in Multi-Car Accidents

Multi-car accidents make the case much more complex because there are potentially several plaintiffs, defendants, and car insurance companies involved. If you have been injured in a multi-vehicle accident, contact the experienced attorneys of Parke Gordon Law Firm immediately. It is vital to retain an experienced and aggressive personal injury attorney to determine liability and to fight for your rights.

All injured parties have the right to receive fair compensation from the negligent driver or drivers. However, with so many vehicles involved, it may be difficult to determine liability. With several parties involved, you need a personal injury attorney on your side to fight in your behalf.

Multi-Car Accident Investigation

An accident involving several vehicles often requires an investigation. Investigators are brought in to determine the root cause of the crash. This is typically a complicated process. Investigators will usually do the following to determine the at-fault party.

  • Interview all drivers, passengers, and witnesses.
  • Talk to police officers and other investigators.
  • Review police reports.
  • Photograph the accident scene as well as damaged vehicles.
  • Review the driving records and history of all drivers involved in the accident.
